But in this story, though his paintings are a marvel to Brian, they don't seem to be about him. In the earlier story, on the other hand, Brian was drawn time and again. But now, four years in, we don't know (yet, if ever) what it is he now paints or draws. In a BrianJustin fanfic world where Justin always shows Brian through his art what he feels, this seems to emphasize the emotional distance these two have kept from one another. Using this one little detail, you've encapsulated how fearful Justin is of showing Brian how he feels.
